Kathryn "Kathy" Rae (Burton) McConville, a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 16, 2025, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, NE, at the age of 90.

Kathy was born in McCook, NE on October 6, 1934, to Loyd and Gladys (Mayo) Burton. She grew up on a farm just south of Bartley. She graduated from Bartley public school in 1952.

On August 24, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola, NE. The start of what would become a lifetime of commitment to her husband, family, and home. They started farming north of Indianola in Frontier County, where they raised their four sons. She was the definition of a farm wife: helping with chores and always have a table set with food. Fresh bread and homemade jelly were always on the menu. While her parents owned the cafe in Bartley, she made all the cinnamon rolls for them.

She was active in church being president of altar society, arranging beautiful flowers for the church altar, and teaching CCD for years often sponsoring Ski trips. She went on many “Right to Life” pilgrimage to Washington DC with her sisters-in-law. As her sons were in school, she was an active member of the mother's club helping with their annual tasting tea.

She and Robert were a part of the Family Folic Square Dancers. Dancing was a part of Kathy life from early on; she even taught the neighborhood girls tap dancing. As their sons began to take a more active role in farming, they looked for new adventures and purchased BA Quigley insurance business to form the McConville Agency where Kathy would become the bookkeeper. They built their house in Indianola that Kathy helped design. She would go on to help others design their homes, associated with Home of Your Own company. Her house was always a welcome place with always something good to eat on the counter. She always had a jigsaw puzzle on the table the grandkids would help her finish.

Waiting to greet Kathy are her parents and infant sister Phyllis, infant son Larry and grandson Rob.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 72-year Robert, sons Dennis & Kem, Bob & Cindy, Tom & Denise, and Steve & Kerry all from the area; 18 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are designated to the Indianola Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 102 North 4th Street, Indianola, NE 69034.

There will be a public visitation on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 5-7 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. The recitation of the rosary will begin at 7:00 PM.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola, NE on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with Father Michael Houlihan as celebrant.
