Kenneth Skea Obituary

Skea, Kenneth,

Skea, Kenneth F., 94, was called home by his Heavenly father on December 25, 2015. Ken was a native of Methuen, Massachusetts. He enlisted and served in the US Army from January 1942 - September 1945, and included campaigns in northern France and the Rhineland.

Ken's first connection to Louisville was his being stationed at Bowman Field. While stationed here he met Doris Marie Hensley at a social gathering for soldiers at the old Market Street Methodist Church.

After his separation from military service, he returned to Louisville where he married Doris on October 12, 1945. They celebrated their 70th anniversary with family and close friends before his decline.

Ken was retired from the US Post Office. He was a union member for 65 years and was also a proud Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Jane Moore Skea, who were natives of Scotland. Also a sister, Ella and twin brothers Raymond and Ronald preceded his death.

Ken leaves family and friends to cherish his memory. He is survived by his wife, Doris, children, Kenneth B. (Susie) and Nancy Worland. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica (Mark) Walker, Rick (Tammy) Willis, Scott (Lizzy) Willis, and Megan (Drew) Millsap; and five great-grandchildren, Emily, McKenna, Hadley, Landyn and Teddy.

Ken's family would like to thank the caregivers at Seneca Place for his and wife's, Doris' treatment, care and concern during their time there.

A celebration of Ken's life will be at 10 am on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 3-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange at 12 noon.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark Methodist Church, 4611 Lowe Rd, Louisville, KY 40220 or Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., Louisville, KY 40205-3224

Just heard today of Ken's passing. He was so much a part of my family. The Market Street "Gang" is almost gone now. They had great times together.

Nancy and Benji, so very sorry to hear about your dads passing. He was a very special person. I have many sweet memories as a child spending time in the summer with Aunt Helen, your mom and dad.
Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I pray God will hold your mother in his arms, for I know she will miss him greatly.
