Kiara Broudy
Kiara Noel Broudy, age 26, departed this life suddenly on August 24, 2022, in Petaluma, California. Kiara was born and raised in Sebastopol, California, graduated from Analy High School (class of 2014) and the University of California, Santa Cruz, with highest honors (class of 2018). Kiara received a BS degree in the Earth and Planetary Sciences Program and was an accomplished sailor on the UCSC sailing team. She resided in San Francisco from 2018-2022, working as a geologist for Langan Engineering.
Kiara had a passion for excellence in her career, and often worked independently on field projects in Montana and Utah. She was an avid skier, backpacker, sailor, swimmer, cyclist, and musician (trumpet and piano). The dedication and love she had for these activities were surmounted by the immense care, compassion, and joy she brought to the relationships she built through those endeavors. From hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, to crossing the Atlantic on a 100-foot schooner, to swimming from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge in San Francisco Bay, Kiara brought humor and built community wherever she went.
Kiara will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit and will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched. Kiara is survived by her parents, Trale and Marjorie Broudy, her sister C (Sierra) Broudy; grandparents Edward Everett (Lois), Joy Verner; uncles/aunts Ellen Peters (Bill), Constance Lasch (Tom), Edward Everett IV, Trev Broudy; cousins Robby Peters (Kelly), Jessica Clouse (Brandon); and dearly loved friends, including boyfriend Julian, Gina, Emily, Natalie, and Pauline. Kiara is preceded in death by grandfather Sherrill Broudy, and grandmother Marjorie Fleischmann.
There will be a private memorial Saturday Sept. 24. Dear Kiara - thank you for being a wonderful classmate on all those field geology field trips. Your laugh was infectious, and you were great at explaining concepts to me when I was lost in class. Hearing about your departure from this world was a huge shock. I send all of my love to your family.

To Kiara´s family and loved ones, you have my deepest sympathy as you are going through such a tough time. She was one of the most amazing people I have met during my time at UCSC, the smartest, and truly saddened at how soon she left. Our deepest sympathy to Marjorie, Trale and Sierra. We have memories of Kiara with the Sebastopol moms group when the kids were small. Swim team and Girl Scouts. Our daughter Sophia and Kiara did a lot together growing up. We are saddened by this news and hope all the beautiful memories give the family peace at this difficult time.
