I am at a loss for words as to how to properly describe just what a special Person,Friend and more importantly a Father KJ was....We grew up together on Rose Ave in Western Springs and shared so many special times. I taught at Laidlaw School in Western Springs many years ago and knew several of the Kowal boys. They were such nice children and a lovely family. I would occasionally see Mary Jane at the grocery store and we would reminisce about the boys. I was so sad to read of Kieran's passing. My thoughts are with you all.

Thinking of you all and KJ's family. I remember those days on Rose avenue fondly.

My sincere condolences to the Kowal family. KJ added so much to our family life on Rose Avenue in Western Springs. His enthusiasm for fun and learning was contagious. I know too well how much he will be missed but I also know we will all be reunited in heaven.

I have a feeling Keith wrote this. At any rate, I'm sending a special hug to him. KJ was a favorite grade-school friend of mine. In fact, KJ was his moniker starting in fifth grade -- I have a get-well card from that grade that bears his trademark KJ rubberstamp signature. He asked me in high school what my favorite band was and I said, "I haven't heard them yet." Which turns out was true. He said my sense of humor was canny. We got each other.
