Kris J.Phillips Sr. was born to the union of Richard J. & Elaine B. Phillips of New Orleans La. Grandson of Bishop Louis & Ella Banks & Joseph & Mary Phillips, Godmother Denise Coleman. Kris was the youngest of (4) kids.  Kris attended the wonderland Day Care Center at the age of 9 months.  Later Kris attended Hardin Elementary School,Lawless Jr. High and graduated from George Washington Carver Sr. High. While attending his senior high school year Kris was a member of the football team where his position was a kicker and a wide reciever. when he palyed baseball his position was centerfield.  Also in his senior year Kris was one of the 1st student  that was chosen for the 1st Fire Cadet Programs at G. W. Carver Sr High School. Kris completed the Cadet class out of (5) students that was chosen. Kris later attended Delgado Community College majoring in refrigeration & air conditioner repair. Kris 1st job was at N.O. Hilton Hotel,than Roberts Heating &  Air Conditioning. Kris later returned to Delgado College for courses that were needed for the Firefighter Recruiting Class. Later Kris became a N.O. Firefighter. Kris was the father of two sons,Kris J . & Kory J. Phillips. Into the the fireman's position for 4 yrs. Than the city of  New Orleans was hit by hurricane Katrina which our familys lost everything. We all was separated in different states. Kris than decided to relocate to the State of Georgia and accepted aFirefighter position there. Kris later was notified by the City of Ga. that he had to become a registered EMT to be a Firefighter in Marietta Ga. Kris began his class for EMT and become a certified EMT from  Medix School in Atlanta Ga. Kris traveled to and from N.O. to Ga. Monday thru Thursdays every week,while also holding down a side job at Danny & Mike Grocery on the weekends to have some income to help his family. Just ( 2) weeks before graduation from the Medix School in Ga. Kris was killed in a fatal car accident. Kris was the role model for the family. To know Kris was to love Kris. Anyone was able to call and talk with kris ,they knew he would listen before he would give his advice. Kris was called on by many for repair on just about anything,just call Kris he can fix it.  Kris will be missed by many. Especially by his sons Kris J. & Kory J. Phillips,mother Elaine, sister Lyntrelle,brother Richard,Fiance Enjoli,neices,nephews,aunts,uncles,cousins and friends.

PHILLIPS Kris J. Phillips, Sr. entered into eternal rest with God on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 2:42 a.m. Son of Elaine Banks Phillips and Richard J. Phillips, Sr. Stepson of Clarence Bradley. Father of Kris Jr. and Kory J. Phillips. Stepfather of Alnisha and Ashley Brandon. Brother of Lyntrelle P. Holmes, Richard Jr., Sangria and Travis Phillips and David Jenkins. Fiance' of Enjoli Harris. Nephew of Geraldine Coleman, Doris Causey, Louis (Deborah) Blanks, Jr., Carolyn Banks, Loraine (Paul) Morton, Junious Banks, Merna (Lloyd) Johnson, Marilyn Banks, Katherine Sentimore and Barbara Banks. Uncle of Lonnie, Johnique, Tre' and DeRon Phillips. Brother-in-law of Troy Holmes, Shantrell Phillips and DaRhonda Sheard. Survived by a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives, friends and members of Israelite, Pilgrim Rest, Greater Zion Hill (Smyrna, GA) Baptist Churches, New Orleans Fire Dept., Engine #25 and #38, Louisiana Medical Center (Admit Dept.), Regions Bank (Baton Rouge), Copeland's (Covington), Bush and Kennedy (Baton Rouge), New Orleans EMS, D and M. Food Store, Medix School (Smyrna, GA) and Desire Street Ministry are invited to attend. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Israelite Baptist Church, 2100 Martin Luthcer King Jr. Blvd., N.O., LA at 10:00 a.m. Visitation beginning at 8:00 a.m. Rev. Emanuel Smith, Host Pastor and Rev. Gervais H. Allison, Sr. - officiating. Interment Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by D.W. RHODES FUNERAL HOME, 1020 Virgil St., Gretna, LA.
