La Donna was born to Samuel Edward and Ella Augusta (Puls) Ulrich of Winside, NE. At the age of ten she came down with Polio, spending 7 ½ months in St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, NE hospital. La Donna graduated from Hoskins Nebraska High School in 1951. She attended Norfolk Nebraska Business College then worked for several different businesses. 1956 she moved to Eden, Idaho where her parents lived, and her mother needed help with care. La Donna also worked in Twin Falls, ID until 1960 when the family moved to Boise, ID where La Donnas' sister, Lorraine, and her family lived. La Donna worked for several offices, including Electric Service Co. at 1031 Lusk St. as bookkeeper and secretary in Boise as well.

>Carl Edmond Wilkerson, Sr. and La Donna married in 1965. They lived in Boise, ID for a few years, then Garden City where they opened a second hand and antique store named The Combo Shop. 1970 they moved the store and themselves to Eagle. After selling the store they moved back to Boise until 1977 and then moved to New Plymouth.

Besides her paralyzed right leg, La Donna was born with Cataracts in her eyes. These handicaps did not stop her from pursuing interests in ceramics and oil painting. In 1997 another set of cataracts grew on her eyes and corrective surgery was performed. A whole new world was before her eyes and she could see things in a new way.

La Donna is survived by her nephews and nieces and their families: David Eugene Wesely, Loretta Ann (Wesely) Dorn, Danny Lee Wesely, Linda Sue (Wesely) Milton, Neal Dean Wesely, and Peggy Lynn (Wesely) Misner.

La Donna is also survived by her three stepchildren and their families: son, Carl E. Jr. and wife Ann Wilkerson of Creswell, OR, three grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren; son, Stewart J. and wife Raili Wilkerson of Finland, one grandchild and two great grandchildren; daughter, Sheryl (Wilkerson) and Gary Ayers of Springfield, OR, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

La Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her sister and husband, Lorraine Adeline (Ulrich) and Robert Lee Wesely; her parents, Sam and Ella, and stepmother, Doris Ulrich (Pirnie).

La Donna's ashes will be placed at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon next to her late husband.

May my smile remind you to be happy, to praise the Lord, for you have eyes that can see. I never thought I would be able to see as well as I have the last years. You see I had very thick lenses and trifocals. I thank the Lord for all he has done for me and my poor twisted body from Polio.

God will take care of each of us, he did me.

Not sure what to say?

My family and I are sending our heartfelt prayers for La Donna and the incredible life she lived and for her family who loved her and will miss her. Although I had only met La Donna a few times, I will always remember her sweet smile, kind words and gentle soul. She was a lovely addition to the Wilkerson family. My mother was Imogene Wilkerson Hawkins and I grew up in the same neighborhood in Boise where Carl's father (Will Wilkerson) and step mother (Myrtle Wilkerson) lived. I inherited...
