Not sure what to say?

Charlsie, prayers for your comfort You and Larry are highly respected in Irving schools.

It was an honor and a privilege to play in his band. Of course, none of us appreciated him or any of our teachers at that. We showed our appreciation by following his direction. That direction made us special. We were respected. We felt unique because we were in his band. Thank you Mr. Colvin! Thank you for showing up every day and working so hard to make us the best!

I was in the Mac band when Mr. Colvin came there to take over when Jim Jackson left to start the band program at Nimitz HS. Mr. Colvin was very helpful to all the band students and did an excellent job of leading the Concert Band and Stage Band ensemble. Irving ISD was fortunate to have him as a teacher.

I personally owe a great debt of gratitude to my Jr High & High School Teacher & Band Director, Mr. Larry Colvin. Mr Colvin started me out on Bb Clarinet when I was at Travis Jr High, and was my Mac Arthur High School Jazz Band Director as well as Our Director for the Mac Arthur Marching Band & the Mac Symphonic Band for my Senior Year, 1971 in which both of our Bands Won ALL FIRST DIVISIONS in UIL Competitions, leading to the coveted "Sweepstakes Award Award," also given for the highest...

May the wonderful memories you have help bring comfort and peace at this sad time. Ann Price Ouzts, former Latin teacher at MacArthur HS, Irving

Larry's name always bring fond memories to my family and me. He was my brother-in-law for 62 years. Our family has been enriched because he was part of our lives. He was respectful, caring, loving, and so funny. Uncle Larry will be missed and always treasured by this family.

My condolences to Mr. Colvin's family. Mr. Colvin was my band director from 1977-1978. He inspired greatness in teenagers -- not an easy task! He expected our very best effort at all times, as individual musicians and as a cohesive team. Many times over the years I have quoted him, "If you're going to make a mistake, make a big one." That was his way of telling us to give it our all and not be timid when we played our instruments. I appreciated that he was direct in his assessment of...

My sympathy and condolences to the family. Mr. Colvin was a wonderful man. The size of his footprint on this world is massive. Please take comfort in knowing all the lives he impacted and all the goodness he shared.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Mr. Colvin was our band director in Archer City. Wonderful band memories.
