"To our beloved Betsy {Emily & Katie} and the entire Lyons Family", please know that our heartfelt prayers and condolences are with you all during this difficult time. Betsy we share many wonderful and loving memories together as friends, mothers, faculty members {the three of us} and co-workers {Co-Guidance Coordinators at Lake Worth High School...back in "the good old days when the handsome David D. Cantley was Principal}. Our son Bobby Jr. "BJ", has very fond memories of Col. Lyons. Larry was and always will be in our hearts as a very calm, cool, and "phenomenal " man. He was a musician extraordinaire. We will always remember the night that I sang as he played at your birthday celebration. It was a fun filled and wonderful evening. You two were and always will be a dream couple. We send our love and sincere prayers for your and the entire family's strength in the days and years to come. All of our sons send their love and well wishes.

Betsy, We are saddened to learn of the loss of your beloved husband Larry. We extend our condolences to you and your entire family.
Larry wasn't just an exceptional instructor in the AFJROTC program as he played an important role in the entire school program. I met him and a student one evening in the Home Depot and he asked me what kind of materials they should be buying to build a Homecoming float. I mentioned several items and suggested that he get plenty of pegboard and tissue paper. Also, he should learn how to fold, fluff, and stuff. Betsy, I'm sure you instructed him well. You were the BEST. And, they did a great job on their float.
We send our thoughts and prayers to you, Betsy and the entire family.

I remember showing up to LWHS in September of 1996, relocating from Michigan, and meeting with my guidance counselor, Betsy Lyon. Picking my course load, and completely out of my element in south Florida, I said hey, this "airplane course" looks interesting! Little did I know at the time I was signing up for AFJROTC. It really is funny how some little choices send you on life changing paths. Col. Lyon is a huge part of my FL824 AFJROTC memories. He helped mold so many directionless kids into outstanding adults. We were lucky to have known him and I will always remember him. My deepest condolences.

Dear Betsy, Emily, Katie, I'm sad beyond words for you. I saw Larry went to be with Jesus through a post Katherine Eigelbach made on Facebook. I didn't spend much time with him, but the time I did I could tell what a remarkable man he was. Betsy you are one of the sweetest, most lovable persons I have ever met, I wish we wouldn't have lost touch. You deserved a man like Larry, a gift from God. I will pray for Gods peace, comfort, strength for you, all of his family. I'll let Danielle know too, I didn't realize you had all moved away from Lake Worth. Love, Janice

Very sad to hear the news of Larry's passing. Larry was such a great guy and I truly enjoyed spending time with him. He always had a smile on his face and was so proud of his family. He always loved to joke around. I remember one day I went to the Lyon residence, and Larry opened the door wearing a Harvard University shirt. He went on and on about how he had gone to Harvard, how he loved the campus, etc. I was quite impressed. As I was leaving, he said to me, "Yep, I went to Harvard...once. And I got this shirt." He held the gag up for the whole time I was there. Larry loved to show off his new electronics to me, and was so proud that he setup and configured them himself! He will truly be missed. We will be there in spirit on Friday. Love and prayers.
