Obituary

SUNRISE: May 18, 1935 SUNSET: March 7, 2018 Larry Matlock was born to Perry Matlock and Helen Amster Matlock on May 18, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY. He and his family moved to Houston when he was 12. He attended Lanier Middle School and Lamar High School. He also attended Texas A&M University. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Fitzgerald (his Angel) in 1957. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He instilled that same love of the outdoors in his four boys, spending many hours with them in rice fields and the Gulf. He spent 40+ years in the automotive industry both selling and managing. The majority of those years were with Toyota. Larry spent his retirement years doing what he loved – buying and selling firearms at various gun shows, where he also sold his invention, the "Sportsrest" and where he also made many lifelong friends. Larry was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn, and his four sons, Chris (Liz), Scott (Beth Ann), Mark (Kathleen), and Matt (Kasey). He is also survived by the loves of his life - his 7 grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Sarah, Mandolyn, Caroline, Kelly, and Morgan. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Rose). A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held on March 24, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm at 5850 Doliver Dr., Houston, TX 77057.
