Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Directors - Tyler Obituary

LaRue Wall departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on September 28, 1933, in Tahoka, Texas to Prentice Alvin and Mildred Lee North.  Her father worked for Phillips Petroleum and she grew up in various Phillips camps in Texas and New Mexico. LaRue graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico.

While in high school, LaRue met the love of her life, Melvin James Wall.  They married on June 7, 1953, and moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where Melvin attended college at New Mexico A & M and LaRue began working for the local telephone company.

After Mel graduated college, they moved to Dallas, Texas.  LaRue and Melvin had three children: David, Becky, and Laurie.

LaRue was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, most recently the Shady Grove Church of Christ. LaRue was a member of John Abston Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also an avid antiques collector, genealogy researcher, and loved to garden.

LaRue was preceded in death by her parents, and Melvin, her husband of 63 years. She is survived by her children: David Wall and wife Sandy of Lindale, Texas; Becky Plemons of Tyler, Texas; and Laurie Laughter and husband Raymond of Tyler, Texas.  LaRue is also survived by her sister, Sally Hunt of Georgetown, Texas.

LaRue had six grandchildren: James Wall and wife Cynthia; Mary Anderle and husband Seth; Emily Thomas and husband Kyle; Rachel Whitely and husband Michael; April Bonde and husband Jonathan; and Arinn Bagwell and husband Jace.  She also had ten great grandchildren: Caleb, Caitlin, and Courtney Wall; Jake, Drew, Bryson, and Ariyah Anderle; Blakely Thomas; Jason Bonde; and Evelyn Whitely.

LaRue will be remembered as having a sweet, kind, and loving spirit.  Throughout her life, she shared her love by maintaining a beautiful and comfortable home for her family.  Holidays were especially joyful times when children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought joy and excitement. Her children had a close relationship with their mother and spent many happy times with her.  Truly, she devoted her life to her family and the church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Reunion Plaza in Tyler for their loving attention during her last few months.

Her memorial service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 1:30 pm at the Shady Grove Church of Christ in Big Sandy, TX.
