ALLAN, Lawrence H. - Of Roscommon, formerly of Burton, age 80, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral service was held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Steven Anderson officiated. Burial was in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Michigan Heart Association or the Cleveland Clinic. Lawrence was born in Flint, Michigan on November 24, 1929 and was a resident of Flint for 59 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as Corporal from 1951 until 1953. He was a graduate of Flint Technical School and attended Michigan State University. He liked boating, snowmobiling, golfing, fishing, deer hunting, reading and enjoyed family very much. Mr. Allan was employed as Supervisor at Consumers Energy for 29 years, retiring on August 1, 1985. Surviving are wife, Barbara of Roscommon; children, Stephen and wife Sue of Andersonville, Tennessee; Cheryl Allan of Burton, Sharon and husband Marty Rose of Lexington, South Carolina, David and wife Cindy of Grand Blanc; three grandsons, Evan, Cody and Brandon; several nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Anna; sister, Eleanor Thompson; two brothers, Donald and Kenneth. Special thank you to the staff at Select Specialty Hospital at McLaren.
