Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry for the death of you mom.

Glenn, I was so sorry to learn of the death of your mother. She lived a wonderfully long life, and I know she will be missed. Bill joins me in sending our condolences. Ellen Howell Myers

I only knew Leila Frances Gregg as
"Glenn's mother." After reading these
beautiful tributes to this grand lady, I find myself wallowing in self-pity that I never knew her. Listen to one of the praises:

"I adored the way you mangled the language and made your own words, called Leila-isms. Everyone had some. By now, there should be an entire book of them."

What a delightful character! I am hoping to read more on...

Our sincere sympathy. Pat and Patsy Kirksey

I was saddened this morning when I saw in the newspaper that Mrs. Gregg had passed away on Sunday. I used to visit with her on the front patio at The Manor when my dad and I would sit outside, enjoying the weather and having tea. I also got to know her sister who usually was there visiting too- I loved how they would chat with each other and Alta Faye would also read to Leila. Mrs. Gregg always greeted me when I came to The Manor and I always looked forward to seeing her - she was just so...

I still haven't found the right words that I want to share with the friends and family of Mrs. Gregg other than that I'll miss her.

My first attempt on Facebook went something like this (as I linked this wonderful biography that I had nary a clue about).

This was my neighbor from 1995 until about 2008. A good person. She saw me overcome my obstacles and not only finish my BS, but also my MS and an opportunity for a PhD....

What a great lady was my Aunt Leila! She is my hero of all the women I have ever know! I will miss her sparkling eyes and great laugh! I am left with so many wonderful memories from my entire life. Thank you for your love.

It was my pleasure to meet Mrs. Gregg at a family gathering several years ago, for a graduation. She was a true Southern Lady that made you feel at home the moment our conversation began. She is one special person that cannot be replaced, only remembered.
Mine and Julie's sympathy goes out to her entire family in their time of sorrow, but remember her joyous spirit and love for her family, because that will always be with you.
