Lenora Pauline Blouin

I regret being unable to attend today's celebration of Lenora's life but am there in spirit.

I will always remember Lenora as the Head of Reference at San Jose Public Library's downtown location. To this new librarian in 1986, Lenora seemed to be a somewhat formidable authority figure. However, over the years her soft heart and wonderful sense of humor showed through. When Lenora became my direct supervisor in 1993, I discovered her remarkable ability to maximize people's strengths...

My Aunt Lenora was an inspiration. I remember her coming to our house as a little kid. I was in awe, here was this big personality, who had a college degree, a career and independence. She shaped who I am today and I will never forget her for that.

I met Lenora about ten years ago and thoroughly enjoyed her intellect and gentle kindness. There are many memories that make me smile, but my favorite was an invitation to lunch following a long illness. I was just getting my sea legs and she suggested a favorite diner. When I arrived, Lenora's big smile and a surprize guest made for a wonderful re-entry to dining out again. That was so typical of her humor and kindness. Many hugs to you, Now Voyager.

I met Lenora in 1969 when I went to work at the Santa Clara City Library, and I enjoyed her company and friendship during the time we worked together. We shared a love of cats and folk music. Even after all these years, hearing an old song by Joan Baez brings back memories of the little house on Filbert that Lenora and Carole shared. A house filled with friends and furballs, love and laughter, where a lot of wine and pizzas were consumed! I'm thankful to have been among Lenora's many...

Lenora was a generous, funny, compassionate friend from the time we met in 1983 or 1984. She cared deeply for the numerous stray and wild cats that found her, setting out food in their favored spots, keeping them healthy when possible. Her work on May Sarton's bibliography was a valuable scholarly work of love for her favorite author. She will be much missed.
