CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF: LeRoy Dick Hinz the son of Carl A. and Erna (Eilers) Hinz was born October 16, 1937 on a farm near Oak, NE. He departed this life on Sunday June 17, 2012 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior at the age of 74 years. LeRoy was baptized on May 30, 1943 near Oak, NE by Pastor Robert Leege and confirmed on February 16, 1958 at St. Mark Lutheran Church by Pastor Clifford Bliss. LeRoy attended grade school at Kelly country school near Oak. He served his country with the United States Army being inducted on August 31, 1961 and was honorably discharged on August 17, 1963. He was united in marriage to Judith Jane Harvey on May 31, 1964 at the First Presbyterian Church in Deshler, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of five children Sandra, Michael, Carl, Vicki and Gary. LeRoy was a member of the Ruskin Rural Fire Board, a member of the Ruskin American Legion and a life long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. LeRoy's passions were farming and family. He tremendously enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, talking about the "old days", going for a drive, farming and haying with the boys, going on spur of the moment vacations, and tending to "mom's" flowers. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Judy, brothers: Eldred Hinz and James Hinz; brother in law John Helgeson and Hubert Zoch, and sister in laws Eileen Hinz and Evaline Hinz. Survivors include his sons: Michael Hinz and special friend Melanie Wilton of Oak, NE; Carl Hinz of Ruskin, NE: Gary Hinz and wife Michele of rural Deshler, NE; daughters: Sandra Lucas and husband Dave of Nebraska City, NE; Vicki Heard and husband Bill of Wymore, NE; grandchildren: Carrie (Lucas) Badberg and husband Adam of Cook, NE; Jessica (Lucas) Kirchhoff and husband Brandon of Avoca, NE; & Laura Lucas of Lincoln, NE: Madeline, Dalton, Adelaide, Caroline & Jackson Heard; Gracie, Carlee and Johnathan Hinz; great grandchildren: Elliot, Kaleb and Brooke; sisters: Gertrude Brandt and husband Donald of Ruskin, NE; Margie Zoch of Enid, OK; Darlene Medina and husband Richard of Deshler, NE; Rose Plock and Larrry of Deshler, NE; and Shirley Hinz of Lincoln, NE; brother Raymond Hinz of Lakewood, CO; sister in law Jureta Hinz of Hebron, NE; brother in law Don Harvey of Lubbock, TX; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Thursday 10 am, June 21, 2012 at the St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin. Pastor BJ Fouts will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am to 8 pm at the Williams Funeral Home, Superior.
