Not sure what to say?

Just recently saw this notice of Lou's passing. My heartfelt condolences to his family. I flew as a F/A with him in ORD for my first years of flying w/ Delta. If I'm not mistaken and forgetful...Lou, almost w/out fail , would find a child on each and every flight and ask him or her to come up to the cockpit and help him start the engines. They would come back to their seats absolutely beaming. He was one of the great guys and a joy to fly with. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Lou and I were classmates in USAF pilot training in 1961, returning to fly F-89s in the Madison Air Guard. He was a good stick and a popular guy, always in the middle of the conversation (or the mischief). He was my best man in 1965. After Dave Thayer died, Lou put it best: "Dave, you will always be my Captain". Now we can say the same of Lou.

Where can we begin, those of us who knew him? He was a big guy but even bigger in life as a friend and comrade to so many people. His wit, charm, and humor could always spark any gathering. He may have left us for now but for those of us who knew him he will be remembered. I know I will. Rest in peace, Lou.

The world has lost a great man. He will be missed by many.

Lou and I were in the AF together. I was an instructor in his pilot training class. He was not my student but he was so popular all the instructors knew who he was. We talked several times since I was also later a pilot for Delta. Lou was a great friend and I will miss him. I am so sorry for your loss.
