CRUME LOUISE MARYLIN CRUME, "the Deaf Social Worker", age 67, died Feb. 9, 2013 from breast cancer. Beloved daughter of Alfred and Katheryn Lepka; loving sister of Alfred Lepka, Lucy Coleman and Vincent Lepka; wife of William Crume (married 43 years); mother of Peter and Philip Crume; mother-in-law of Kristen Hansen; grandmother of Cayla and Samantha Crume; godmother to Ronald Reuther III, and Marvin, Marthin, and Marchelle Junker. A graduate of Marshal Rhodes High School, Gallaudet U., and U. of MD. She earned a BA in Sociology, MA in Counseling, and Master of Social Work. Member and employee of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church. Louise has been called a Mother Teresa by her friends, a matriarch of the Deaf community, a mother-hen who kept countless members of the deaf community under her wings. Having known abuse as a child she made it her life mission to give love and help to those in need, to mend broken families, and to improve the quality of life for her community. Despite our not having been in touch over the years, I have always wondere about your whereabouts until now. I want to convey my condoleseces to you and your family. I read how wonderful Louise was to you, your family and to the Deaf community. She sure was a special person. Hope we will be able to contact each other in time.
