My deepest sympathies Michael to you and your family. I really enjoyed talking with your Dad about you among other things years back and he was such an interesting person. I hope some of the time passing has allowed the memories to bring more smiles than pain. ❤(((HUGS)))❤

Lynn, Diane and Mike, I am so saddened to learn of Loyal's passing and please accept my deepest sympathy. I have such fond memories of Loyal and his shy, quick wit about him. I met Loyal in 1971 through his beautiful daughter Diane. Being a young pilot who just received his commercial rating, Loyal gave me a job as a tow pilot towing gliders which I did for about 4 1/2 years. My fondest times that I always look back on is working for Loyal and the Wonder Valley Soaring School. Such a wonderful man. I will miss you my friend.

Loyal shared a love of flying with many people, and was a mentor and great friend. I am sorry I missed the chance to get together and share memories with his friends and family. I was taking care of my own Dad in San Diego who passed away on June 2, 2014. Otherwise, I would have been there.

Loyal was such a pleasure to spend time with at the airport. He was a heroic figure in my life and I always felt complimented when he'd invite me into his workshop for a few games of pool as the sun set at the end of the day (yes, he had a pool table in his super-cool workshop). Loyal had such a kind heart and the kind of soft spoken wit that is far, far too rare in this world. Pilots have a tradition called the hundred dollar hamburger but anybody who had the good fortune of sharing a burger with loyal knows that such a memory is beyond valuation.

Frankie, Lynn, Diane, and Michael,
You have my deepest sympathy. You were so important to Loyal and he loved you so much.
Loyal's life touched many of us. So many memories have flooded back for me.
For 30 years I shared my life with him, never permanently, the time always came for us to go our separate ways, until at some point we would meet up again. I missed him these last ten years. Perhaps we will meet up in the Hereafter.

Loyal didn't say much but I can still hear him. I can still see him riding his tractor to grate the runway. I can vividly remember his smooth tow plane landings. Loyal was the standard for being a great tow pilot. I will never forget the time the truck got stuck in the mud. A man of great character. I truly miss him at the gliderport. We are fortunate that he has touched our lives. Stories will be told for generations.

I had the pleasure of knowing Loyal for over 35 years within the soaring(gliding) community. He took the time to make himself available for service to the soaring club and the aviation community as well as introducing many people to soaring through his service. He always had a quick smile for those he met. Loyal played the part of a 'neutral' sounding board and therefore the role of peace-maker when any disagreements arose around him. Our lives are richer for having known and flown around Loyal. God bless you in your flight West, Loyal. Dan Gudgel (Lemoore, CA)

Loyal was the glue that held the Central Coast Soaring Club together for years. He set the standard for tow pilots. He would make sure that everyone made it back to the airport safely. He was a great man, and I will miss him terribly.

So very sorry. Mom is so sad to learn of Loyal's passing. So glad we were able to bring her to see him that last time. What time is the service Saturday? The obituary doesn't say and I think momma's going to want to come. She gets so confused now and very forgetful so we'll see what she wants to do. Love to all and may God bring you comfort. Loyal was a mentor to so many of us soaring pilots. He provided the extra information that made soaring fun, safe and exciting. He will always be in my thoughts as I close my canopy to begin my flight. Andy Reistetter

So long Loyal - Enjoyed working with Loyal as a Bee photographer in the way back, as well as flying with him some in later years. Glad he got to enjoy flying for a good number of years after retiring from KSEE. Hope you always have good flying weather now partner...
