G.L. Hills Funeral Home, Ltd. Obituary

Lucas Jeffrey Hills, loving father and son, entered eternal life on Sunday, April 4, 2021.  His spirit is survived and carried on by his daughter, brother and parents, and an extended family of relatives and friends from all avenues of his life.

Lucas was born on September 18, 1980 in Arlington Heights, IL to Wayne and Mary Jane Hills. He graduated from Hoffman Estates High School, and built his years in Chicago leading Strategic Accounts for Custom Companies Inc. in Chicago.  On December 14, 2015, Lucas’s pride and joy December Gail was born.  Lucas and December shared a rare bond, and felt blessed to have each other. She will always be the true love of his life. December was raised with love by Lucas and his parenting partner, Natalie Stubbs, in the suburbs of Chicago.

Lucas (DJ Atari) had a passion for music, motorcycles, cars, gardening, cooking, telling really awful “dad jokes”, and most of all just being a great “da-da” (as December called him). Fatherhood truly brought out the best in him. He often combined his favorite hobbies by turning weekend motorcycle rides with his father into Harley Davidson token treasure hunts for his daughter.  His spirit and inclusive nature made everyone he knew feel loved and appreciated. He was an avid golfer and a collector of music. Behind the canvas of tattoos was a man known for his heart felt hugs, big smile, and a kind and compassionate spirit. When he entered a room, he was sure to leave it with laughter. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Lucas during his 40 years, among them: Never throw away bacon grease.  Use it to make French fries!

Not sure what to say?

December, Hills family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Lucas definitely made a permanent impact in my life, and many others. I will be forever grateful for us crossing paths. I can't believe I'll never see a snarf picture. My heart breaks for those who knew him.

I'd like to begin by sending my heartfelt condolences to Luke's: Daughter,Family,& Friends.............. Like many of you I'm still in shock!!!! Certain people define periods in ones life & My buddy Luke certainly defined my 20's. We'd hang @ My Mom's in her basement with many of our friends on many nights while partaking in the "3D's" (Drinking, Dj'ing,& Darts)..... As we grew older, we took separate paths, but anytime we bumped into one another it was like time hadn't...

My condolences to his loved ones. I will never forget our time working together, or that time he made me try some ghost chile. RIP

I had the greatest pleasure of talking to Lucas over the phone dealing with work and about the brisket I would send the guys at Custom Global. He told me that the brisket was really good and he took the leftovers home and made brisket enchiladas.
I knew then that the man loved the art of food.
Lucas has that voice that I could never confuse him with the other crew. I am more than sadden to loose my friend and customer.
Thank you for the laughs and being such a great man to...

My sincerest condolences to the family. Lucas, you helped create a beautiful, smart, compassionate, and sweet daughter in December. She will carry you in her heart and mind always. May you rest easy in eternal peace.

I’m truly sad such a wonderful sole is taken to soon. Lucas is and always has been a great guy to be and have around. His spirit will live on in everyone who loved and knew him. I’m sorry for everyone that knew him and lost him. Prayers for all are being sent. I’m sure Lucas is now the life of the party in heaven. Until we meet again. December now has a guardian angel watching over her. My only regret is not taking a moment April 1st to say hi one last time when you were merely feet away....

Lucas, you will be greatly missed by so many. You always had the most amazing spirit. Growing up, you were like my little brother. We were always laughing. I have many fond memories. The Lord took you way to soon. Please shine down upon your family and friends as they find a way to go on without you. We will miss you!
