Lucia D. CUNES

CUNES, Lucia D. 94, passed away May 19, 2018. Lucia was born in Jerome, AZ and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Pedro Luna Cunes. At the age of nine when her mother died unexpectedly all eight siblings were separated and raised by different family members. Because they were not able to reconnect for many years, Lucia grew to appreciate the value of family. This early experience and hard work served her well as she went on to raise three step-children and 12 children of her own after settling down with her husband in Tucson in the early 1950's. Nana Lucy was fiercely devoted to her family, loved a good laugh, was blessed with patience and a sweet disposition, and we were blessed by her in return. Although she continues to live in our hearts, she will be greatly missed by her surviving step-son, 11 children, 41 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 49 great-great grandchildren. Services for Lucia will begin Thursday, May 24, 2018 with a 9:30 a.m. Rosary and 10:00 a.m. Mass at Santa Monica Catholic Church (212 W. Calle Medina) followed by a Graveside Service at FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL, SOUTH LAWN, (5401 S. Park Ave).
