Lucille (Werling) Brown, the daughter of Carl and Malinda (Levine) Werling, was born March 26, 1921, in Hardy, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Algona Manor in Algona, Iowa, at the age of 91. She grew up in Renwick, Iowa and received her education in the Renwick schools, graduating in 1939. After graduation from high school she cleaned homes for families in the Renwick area, where she met her future husband. On May 6, 1940, Lucille was united in marriage to Charles Brown in Cherokee, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple made their home and farmed in the Renwick area and began raising their family. In February of 1952, the family moved to a farm near Ringsted, Iowa, where the couple farmed until Charles retired in 1983. Lucille was very active in the farm operation being both a mother and homemaker. In her leisure time she loved quilting and made quilts that were auctioned off and the proceeds were donated to Ingham Lake Bible Camp. She also sold Tupperwear and was proud to be the Tupperwear Lady of the Ringsted area. Charles died December 27, 1996. Lucille has been a resident of Algona Manor since April due to declining health. She was an active member of United (St. Paul) Lutheran Church in Ringsted. Left to cherish Lucille's memory are her children, Mary Jane Barber and her husband, Ralph of Winnemack, Indiana; Linda Caryl McCormick and her husband, Robert of Phoenix, Arizona; Llewelyn Brown of Algona; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and sister, Gladys Vesterby of Humboldt, Iowa. Preceding Lucille in death were her husband; daughter-in-law, Kathleen; an infant brother, Melvin and brother, CLarence 'Pete' Werling.
