My husband Bob and I met Mel 49 years ago while he was working up in the Sonoma County tower. He had the most unbelievable memory, and could remember the N number of the first airplane I soloed in, years after I made that flight! He was a true gentleman to anyone he met, and always remembered their name.....we have often talked about Mel, wondering if he was still around, so were really saddened to read this news! Fly high Mel, only smooth air and blue skies up above!
