A. Azzara Funeral Home - Staten Island Obituary

Margaret Crocco (nee Vento), 95, passed away peacefully at her New Jersey home on March 11, 2021. Born and raised in South Beach, Mrs. Crocco was one of eight brothers and sisters born to John Vento and Anne (nee Punzi). After moving to the Shore Acres section of Staten Island, Mrs. Crocco settled in Manahawkin, New Jersey in 2006.

As a teenager, Mrs. Crocco volunteered at Miller Field, proudly supporting our Country's wartime efforts during World War II. Her late husband, Charles Crocco was a proud WWII veteran. The couple was married 37 years, when Charles passed away in 1980.

Mrs. Crocco graduated from New Dorp High School and joined the workforce as a telephone operator with New York Bell working in Manhattan, as well as, their offices in New Dorp and on Forest Avenue. After her husband passed away, Mrs. Crocco returned to work at Dr. Joseph Amari's office in Oakwood. She was a dedicated employee for Dr. Amari for over 20 years, working along side him as his medical assistant, as well as, handling billing, insurance and reception work. Mrs. Crocco was loved by her patients and became their advocate when dealing with insurance benefits. She truly went over and above helping others.

"Mom was a sociable and likable woman," said her son, Charles. " She was loving, warm and caring and her family meant everything to her."

Mrs. Crocco enjoyed playing the piano, bowling and knitting. But she was best known for delicious Italian cooking, especially her homemade raviolis. She loved her grandchildren so much that they would fight to see who would get to sleep over grandma's house !

Mrs. Crocco was the beloved wife of the late Charles, loving mother of Charles J. Crocco and cherished grandmother of Chuck, Michael and Kerry. She was also the adored great-grandmother of Gabriela, Kayle, Thomas, Nicholas, Elle and Matthew. She is also survived by her many dear nieces and nephews.

A. Azzara Funeral Home, 183 Sand Lane, Staten Island, NY 10305 has been entrusted with Mrs. Crocco's funeral arrangements which include visiting on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
