Mrs. Margaret Sage Davidson

Margaret (Peg/Peggy) Davidson born on February 26, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut, to the late Louis Russell Sage and late Doris May Eggleton, peacefully passed away at age 92 on June 14 2020 at her home surrounded by her Family in North Haven, Connecticut. Margaret was the beloved wife of late Donald Skinner Davidson. She is survived by her sons, Russell A. Davidson (Sarah) of North Haven, James L. Davidson (Sharon) of Tyngsboro MA, and Richard E. Davidson (Cheryl) of Milford; daughter, Carol Fortin (Robert) of Hebron; grandchildren, Owen Davidson (Ayla), Jamie Robins (Cameron), Kevin Davidson, Adam Davidson, Kathryn Davidson, Andrew Davidson, and Robert Fortin; and great-grandchildren, David Robins, Hailey Robins, Caelan Davidson, Eli Davidson and Liam Davidson.She is survived by her Brother Richard Louis Sage(Louise) Nephews Christopher Louis Sage(Patricia), Frederick Geffken(Patrice), David Cote Nieces Susan Geffken Coutemache (Joseph) Sharon Sage Stewart(Jeremy) and their children. She is predeceased by her sister Joan Sage Geffken Burns and her Niece Patricia Geffken Cote. She met and married the love of her life Don while a Nursing Student at University of Connecticut. She graduated from the school of Nursing. Her husband Don purchased a private plane in 1963. She worked to secure Her Private Pilots LIcense, Instrument Rating VFR and Commercial Pilots License. She was known to hang out a airport hangers and offices with her four children to learn everything she could about flying. She was bit by the Flying Bug. While developing the passion for flying she met women pilots who encouraged her to join the New England section of the 99,s an organization in which Amelia Earhart encouraged all women pilots to come together. She held positions and helped organize the Powder Puff Derby an All Women's Transatlantic Race(AWTAR). She was able to Fly as pilot the rigorous route 2 times in her Cessna 205. Her Husband Don became a 49 1/2 men's part of the 99s(Men who promoted and helped organize the 99s). She also piloted Her Cessna 205 in the All Women's New England Air Race(AWNEAR). She won first place three years. She also piloted with her many friends as Co-pilots in organized races and and Fly ins. She spent many hours Co-piloting for her husband travelling with her children to many differnts states in the USA for vacations, She put in many hours volunteering in various positions in the New England section of the 99's and the Connecticut Chapter. She met many accomplished women licensed pilots and enjoyed many friendships with these women Pilots. She felt strongly in encouraging Women to become pilots so she organized and assisted in running a flying Poker Run to support scholarships to enable women to become pilots. She had a love for Nursing but raising a family, flying and being an Administrative Assistant for the DS Davidson Co. took up a lot of her time. She would tell her many friends who she missed dearly HAPPY FLYING which put a smile on her face. She always looked to the skies and had difficulty on a fine blue sky day when her feet were on the ground. She is a long time resident of North Haven and Parishioner of St John's Church. Funeral Service will be private and burial at Hamden Plains Cemetery in Hamden.
