8/10/1909-11/29/2010. Margaret, age 101, was a descendent of pioneer families who settled in Butte County in 1856. She was born and raised in Chico; moved to Marysville in 1941 and resided at Fredericka Manor Retirement Community in Chula Vista, CA since 1996. Margaret was a Charter and 59 year member of the Marysville Rebekah Lodge, an 84 year Member and Past Chief Companion of Butte Circle Companions of the Forest, 89 year member of Neighbors of Woodcraft, 69 year member of Native Daughters, 60 year member and Past Madam President of the Ladies Auxiliary #2088 Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of the Emblem Club. She was a Senior Reproduction Machine Operator for the State of California, Cal Trans for 10 1/2 years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Martin C. (Bus) Polk and her son James K. Polk. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Cox of San Diego, Grandsons Robert, Thomas and Martin Polk, 10 great grandchildren and eight great- great grandchildren. Visitation is this Friday, December 10, 2010 from 9am - 11am with funeral services immediately following at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst, CA. Interment will be at Sierra View Memorial Park. Grandma Mickey stood by my side when i was a teenager, she gave me guidence and support through a critical time in my life. Mickey and I became really close then.
