By day, a barefooted Mimi Dwight sang along to Joni Mitchell as she drove a station wagon full of her five children and a shedding Saint Bernard around the streets of Holyoke, Massachusetts. In the evenings, she met in back rooms to organize for social justice in her community and beyond. Born...

Cathy & Trouble with Maria in Guerneville.

I so enjoyed meeting Maria through my wife, Cathy Gouch. We last saw her over breakfast at Guerneville's River Inn 2 or 3 years ago. She was fascinating and bold and beautiful.

I knew Maria through (now) LeadingAge, which she helped to establish. I was also her client and a friend. Her wisdom and insight about needs and wants of an aging population were uncanny.... We were discussing the future of housing for aging Baby Boomers and how "they" would want to live. I had come up with the term "Boomertown," to which Maria responded, quite definitively, that she envisioned that the place would be called "Purple Haze." We all thought she was onto something, and cracked up at the mere...

Dear Lili and family,

So sad to learn this news -- Maria will be so missed by all of us who had the privilege to know and work with her over the years. I was so very fortunate to collaborate with Maria on educational programs -- she was an inspiration and a mentor to me -- and to have enjoyed her great company at conference venues across the globe.

What an amazing woman and life!

Sorry for your loss. I remember your Mom from meeting her the Summer we were at Williston.

Though Mimi has left us, her legacy willcontinue in Holyoke,MA.Her dedication to this community was priceless. Well done ,"Good and faithful
