Marian Campbell
Born: December 5, 1921 in Spring Valley, Illinois
Died: July 12, 2025 in Peru, Illinois
Marian Frances Campbell passed from this life to the next on July 12, 2025 at the age of 103.
Cremation has been accorded and private services for Marian will be held at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Spring Valley at a later date. The Barto Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
Marian was born on December 5, 1921 to Robert and Mary (Karpinski) Campbell. She was born, raised and lived 90 years at the same address in Spring Calley. When the home began to deteriorate, she chose to have it razed and to build a new home, an almost exact replica of the original. When her nephew asked her sometime in her late 70's if she would like to find a different place to live, her response was I was born here, lived here all my life and I will die here. Her wish however could not be fulfilled. At the age of 90 she suffered a stroke which left her slightly handicapped and in 2016 she became a resident of assisted living at Liberty Village of Peru and in 2017 she moved to Manor Court.
Marian attended Logan Grade School in Spring Valley and graduated from Hall High School. Soon after graduation she went to work at Westclox and stayed there until Westclox became Talley Industries and moved to Georgia. For a short time, she worked for other companies and then retired. She was a lifelong member of the Spring Valley United Church of Christ Congregational in Spring Valley. She also was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She looked forward to making peanut brittle every year at the church.
Marian is survived by 4 nieces, Louise (Tom) Torri, Marian C. Terry, Pastor Betty (John) Delgado, Teri Jo OConnor and a nephew John Scott (Sue) Campbell, several great nieces, great nephews and cousins
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert (Vera) Campbell and Elmer "Chucky" (Lois) Campbell; one sister, Cecelia (John) Simpson; a niece, Mary Stoner; 4 nephews, Jeff Hamer, Robert, Michael and Randy Campbell.
