Collier’s Funeral Home - Saint Ann Obituary

Marie Scholle lived to love and do the right thing. Wherever she found herself—growing up on a farm near Batchtown, Illinois, living as a homemaker and mom in Saint Louis County, or working with her husband in their business—she always asserted a moral presence.

She was the youngest of three children of Clarence and Mary Bach. She lived in rural Calhoun County until she moved to Overland to attend high school. There she met Leonard Scholle who she married on November 8, 1937. They had one son, William. Together she and Leonard operated a vehicle maintenance service for the telephone company for over thirty years.

It was also in Overland where she joined the Christian Science Church and that union provided her with spiritual guidance and sustenance throughout her life.

After their retirement and Leonard’s death in 1987, Marie continued working for good. She volunteered in the Reading Room of the Overland Church and she assisted her son and his family in anyway she could. She was a kind and dedicated mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be remembered fondly.

In addition to her son, William, and his wife Harriet, she is survived by her grandson, Ben, and great-grandchildren, Lucy, Gabriel, and Nathaniel.

Not sure what to say?

Marie was a gracious and loving person. It was a pleasure to know her and we feel blessed to have had her in our lives. Our sympathy goes out to all of her family and friends.

Sending love to Marie's family. She expressed such love and joy! I'm glad to be a member of her church.
