Marion Wanjek Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 3, 2020.

Marion E. Wanjek of Philadelphia passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Neshaminy Manor in Doylestown. She was 90 years old.

Marion was born in West Philadelphia and was one of 5 girls in the Sadie and John Carabine family. Marion met and married her sweetheart, Carl on Nov 15, 1952 and enjoyed 66 years together until the Carl’s death. The Wanjek family, Carl, Marion and their 5 children, were longtime residents of Northeast Philadelphia.

Marion loved traveling throughout the United States and especially Ireland where her extended family still resides. Family vacations were always at the Jersey Shore, Maryland or Delaware beaches, her favorite spot to relax. In earlier years she loved cooking for her husband and family, entertaining on family holidays, volunteering, crafts and ceramics. Nobody made more baked goods for fundraisers and bought something from every kid who asked.

Strong willed and determined, Marion was devoted to her Catholic faith and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Irish songs were a staple in her home. She enjoyed volunteering at the St. Katherine Drexel Shrine and the Immaculate Mary Nursing Home.

Mostly she loved spending time with her family all of whom will lovingly remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Beloved wife of the late Carl A. Wanjek, Mrs. Wanjek was the loving mother of Carl J. Wanjek (Karen), Eileen Bailey (Michael), Maryjo Mirynowski (the late Edward), John "Jack" Wanjek and Marion Passman (Shawn).

She was the devoted grandmother of Katie, Carl, Nichole, Brianna, Michael, Samantha, Lauren, Kelley, Eileen, Eddie, Jacqueline, Ian, Meri, Shawn, Devon, Colin and Brian. Great grandmother of Jordan, Alexa, Ryan, Matty, Gabriel, David, Lucy, Auggie, Rosie, Joe, and Nick.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at 10:00 am, Friday, December 4, 2020,  at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway,  Levittown. Interment will be held privately. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Carl and Marion,
I am truly sorry to hear of your moms passing. She was such a lovely woman that I enjoyed so much while I worked in activities at Neshaminy Manor. She was such a sweet, gentle loving soul. Ironically, my husband Shawn, also knew your mother and had wonderful things to say about her as well.
Our prayers for peace for all of you.
