Mark E. Berry, 92, of New Hartford, passed away at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare on December 14, 2012. He was born on July 2, 1920 in Utica the son of the late Katherine Berry and Mark E. Berry, Sr. and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, class of 1940. Mark was a World War II veteran, who served in the European Theater, from 1942 to his honorable discharge with the rank of Sgt. in 1945. He was united in marriage on July 20, 1943 to Rose Zimmerman with whom he shared a loving marriage for 69 years. Mark was employed for 36 years with the FX Matt Brewing Company retiring in 1982. He was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church, Utica and sang in the Men's and Boy's choir, Utica, Liberty (Oriental-Faxton) Lodge F & AM, a life member of the VFW Post # 368 and a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post # 1376. He was an avid reader and loved working on crossword puzzles. Mark was a devoted, loving family man. He is survived by his wife Rose at home, his son Douglas at home, his daughter and son-in-law Christine and Robert Diviak of Whitesboro, two grandsons Michael Diviak, Boston, MA and David Diviak of Smithfield, NC, a cousin Russell Berry and his wife Doris of New Hartford and several nieces and nephews especially Judith and Paul Weiss. He was predeceased by his sisters, Frances Mason and Ruth Masella and his beloved dog Missy. The funeral will be on Tuesday at 10:30 am at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
