Mark made me feel welcome immediately upon my arrival at IHG in 2007. He and I worked closely together on the Holiday Inn Relaunch and I have fond memories of that time. Mark was well respected and loved and will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Mark was my boss for two wonderful years during the Gaylord Opryland Hotel constructions. His laughter was contagious and his pranks will long be remembered. Mark loved his family so much, my deepest and heartfelt sympathy to his beloved family. Boss, I will miss you so much. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, wisdom and happy spirit with me.

Mark had a pure, gentle soul and was reflective, generous, kind and creative. He was an empathic, caring friend to many. His ready wit and warm smile were uplifting. He will be sorely missed, but his spirit will long be with his beloved family and friends.

Dear Hopkins family,

While I never met Mark personally, I'm a frequent visitor to the hotels he helped redesign. By frequent, I mean over 100 nights a year for work and they are generally my hotel of choice for vacations. His touch - evident in everything and at every HIE I've stayed in - was a balm to the soul after long, grueling days. There are many of us who travel extensively for business that Mark gave a place to call home away from home. May the fact that he is remembered through his work be some comfort.
