Marriner L. Beckstead

I was a band student for 5 years in Las Vegas, starting in the 5th grade. We was a large part of my developing a love of music.

Sue and family; I'm saddened to hear of your father's passing. Please accept my condolences. I was too young to know him when he lived in Nephi. So I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to become acquainted with him during his visits to West Jordan. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and the extended Beckstead family.

What a great man Mr. Beckstead was. He came to Liincoln County when I was a junior in High School. He spent a lot of time teaching me things on the trumpet. He was an excellent player himself. He played with the Y's men band along with my cousin when he was in college. My sincere condolences to the family.

I remember growing up that Brother Beckstead always led the music and the choirs at stake conference in the old Lake Mead Stake in Henderson and we always had wonderful music. He also taught me that one is supposed to stand when the Hallelujah Chorus is being performed. His musical talent and teaching abilities have blessed and continues to bless my life. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Beckstead was one of my favorite teachers at Lincoln County High School. I learned much from him and more than just music. Let me offer my sincerest condolences at his passing. What a great guy, and what a great asset your entire family was to both the town and ward in Panaca. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Mr. Beckstead was our band and chorus teacher at Lincoln County High School in Panaca, NV in 1958-59. He was so talented and we learned so much from him. Sympathy to his family.
