Send Flowers

For her nearly 15 years in the Navy, Marsha Ratchford traveled wherever her orders sent her. There was Hawaii and Guam and Japan and Seattle and California. Washington D.C.--the Pentagon--was to be her family's last stop.

"She was retiring after this," said her husband, Rodney Ratchford, Friday night.

Asked to describe his wife, Rodney Ratchford didn't even pause: "The main thing about her," he said, "is that she was just the most loving mother."

The Ratchfords, who have been married 13 years, have three children: a son who is 11, a daughter who is 8, and another daughter who is barely 18 months.

Not sure what to say?

In Memory
With Honor & Respect.

To her family and friends, I served with her on the USS Abraham Lincoln and she was the kindest and most caring person that I have ever met. If I ever needed help or advice on how to do my job she was always the one to tell me exactly what I needed to know. We will all see her again in glorious heaven!

We send our deep sympathy to your family. May God always continue to give the needed strength to cope with such a sad loss. Marsha is still missed and will always be remembered. May an end come to these violent acts.

I want Marsha's family to know that she is not forgotten. I chose her name from a list of 9/11 victims to read about and honor. We are very grateful for her service to this country.

A great friend, woman, wife, mother, and great communicator, who I respected and had the honor to work with on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72.

I love you and miss you big sis. Your always in my heart and prayers. May God bless your soul and continue to keep your family in his ever lasting arms.
