Hutchinson Funeral Chapel Obituary

Martin was born on April 30, 1926 and passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017. Martin was a resident of Kansas. He attended the St. Paul Lutheran School for grades 7 and 8. Haven Rural High School completed his education when he graduated in 1944. On July 22, 1944, Martin reported for active duty with the Army Air Forces for WWII. He took basic training at Buckley Field in Denver, CO and then specialized training at Keesler Army Airfield, Aviation Mechanics School, Biloxi, MS before shipping overseas to the South Pacific. He served with the 1571 Army Air Forces Base Unit Southwest Pacific Wing. During the war he was stationed at New Guinea, Australia, Leyte, Luzon, Manila, Guam, Saipan, Los Negros and Atsugi, Japan. Martin was part of the occupation forces in Japan after VJ Day until he was honorably discharged on August 8, 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. Visitation None Service Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. Interment Laurel Cemetery Rural Haven/Yoder Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery at a later date.
