Not sure what to say?

Marvel was the chief of staff in the Chemical Engineering department when I came on board in 1985 as the only woman faculty member at that time ----and a Yankee at that. She graciously took me under her wing, helped me to learn Southern ways, and made me feel welcome and at home. She set the tone in the department, ran the place well, and managed the (mostly male) egos with remarkable grace. I am still working on this! I'm so sorry that she is gone and that I didn't get a change to tell her...

I am saddened to learn that Marvel has passed away. She was a good friend when I was a faculty member at NC State; she put up with much nonsense from young guys like I was then, but always served the leadership of the Chemical Engineering Department with grace, wit, loyalty and enthusiasm. Mixed with many memories I have of her is the pride she had in her sons and especially the birth of her first grandchild, April.

Condolences to all of her family.

RIP Beautiful Mrs. Mitchel! You will be very missed by us and your very big NCSU Chemical Engineering family. Our children still remember so fondly the Easter Egg Hunts with you.

NC State Chemical Engineering lost its go-to person when you retired. Your warmth and can-do attitude were an inspiration. You were our daughter Amy's first baby sitter--just once, but we'll always remember you. Sorry that we didn't stay in touch. Our condolences to your family and friends. RIP

MAMA ! WHATS FOR SUPPER? SHE WILL BE WITH US ALWAYS!

We will miss drinking coffe and watching the sun rise-moon parties=Tuesday nights at Snoopy,s but most of all our wonderful neighbor whose loss leaves an empty space in our hearts.
