Not sure what to say?

To Mary Beth's family and friends, I did not know Mary Beth but I can't help but think that my life would be richer had I. Kim McAughey

I just listened to this song and while I have heard it a hundred times in my life, I found myself crying and laughing and smiling thinking of Mary Beth. For some reason, it was as if I had heard the song for the very first time.

Across the Universe

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind,

Tragically, I just found out about MB's passing yesterday and I am so very saddened by her death. I met MB our very first day at graduate school and we became fast friends. I stayed in Ann Arbor for 8 years after graduating, so was able to catch up with MB fairly regularly. We had a lot of laughs and she was brilliant, witty, gregarious and so very full of life. She introduced me to the true Ann Arbor -- the Del, Thanos Lamplighter and many other places. I will miss her dearly. I am trying...

I had the pleasure of Mary Beth's company only twice...both times when visiting with her father and stepmother. She was a vibrant, loving and funny woman who was greatly loved by her family and friends. Goodbye, Mary Beth. I'm sure that soon you will be cleaning up heaven. Go girl.

I am still so saddened by Mary Beth's passing - there was so much left for her to do and I selfishly will miss running into her at the townie party and elsewhere. She was a remarkable woman and I will miss her terribly.

I met M.B. while we were both attending U of M. I have the good fortune to also know her brother Michael and his wife Leslie. Leslie and I roomed together, and then Mary Beth and I roomed together along with Pat Fettes. I can't begin to recall all of the fun and...

I love you, Mary Beth.

"Sis for Sis" forever,

Mary Beth, You have been my friend since our first day at MHSN. I miss you...

I am so deeply saddened to hear of Mary Beth's sudden death last weekend. I've known and cared for her for 25 years - since we worked the bar together at Joe's Star Lounge. We 'grew up' together in environmental activism around town and the state, as well. Her joyful and powerful energy will be deeply missed by all of us who knew her.

There are no words that can adequately express our feelings right now. We have a deep feeling of injustice – MB had so much more work to do and fun to have. She had just concluded a very difficult phase of her life with the passing of her father, and was elated with her new companion, David.

Many memories about our times with MB keep flooding to mind: how MB and Darrin tried to send us a telegram from India and I inadvertently threw it away; then getting their collect call from...
