Mary Ellen Weer Hicks

Anyone who ever attended the Monterey Bay Wellesley Club's extremely popular fundraiser "Bargains In Books" held every spring at the Carmel Middle School will remember the "lady in the hat" who gave them a number so that they wouldn't have to stand out in line in the early morning cold air. What a joy to be a friend of Mary Ellen! She gave so much to so many lives and I am so humble in the knowing her and enjoying her many times, accompanied by my dog, Annie. I am grateful for the times spent with her in her Park Lane Apt. and I will always treasure my copy of her lovely, heartwarming prose and poems. We had such a great time at the Perry House viewing our wedding dresses from the different circas.
I shall miss that gift of Mary Ellen.
