Chambers Funeral Homes - North Olmsted Obituary

Our beautiful mother, Mary “Lynne” Jennings, 75, passed on from this world on May 24, 2024 after a hard fought battle with Lewy body dementia, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 27, 1949 to Edward J and Dorothy (Rye) Burton in Elyria, OH. She was a 1967 graduate of Elyria High School, and later received her teaching degree from Baldwin Wallace College.

She raised her family in Lakewood, OH and later retired to Westlake, OH. She began her teaching career at St. Angela Merici in Fairview Park, OH, later moving to Cleveland Public Schools where she spent the majority of her career as an elementary school teacher. Her biggest joy in life was supporting her children and their many endeavors and was involved in all that they participated in as they grew up. If she wasn’t being a Girl Scout leader or a “Beck Mom” volunteer for Beck Center Children’s Theater productions, you would find her in the stands of a t-ball, volleyball, basketball, or softball game cheering on her kids (and arguing with refs/umps). A huge Cleveland sports fan, she loved watching her beloved Indians, the Browns and of course The Ohio State Buckeyes. Her support of her children in activities later transitioned to her support of them as mothers. The only thing she possibly loved more than her daughters were her grandchildren. She was so deeply proud of each and every one of them.

Lynne loved shopping and traveling the world with her friends and spending time with her beloved pets. She brought laughter and love everywhere she went, and had a huge impact on everyone around her.

She is survived by her former husband and friend, Philip W Jennings, her daughters Holly (Kevin) St. Clair of Avon, OH, Kathy (Randy) Elkin of New London, OH, Maggie (Patrick) Mercer Of Buena Vista, CO, and Lindsay (Jeremy) Pope of Knoxville, TN, her grandchildren Cameron (Anthony) Cataldo, Ethan St. Clair, Emma Jennings, Grace and Jake Elkin, Colin and Cora Mercer, Madison, Lillian, and Mia Pope, great-grandson Ryker Jennings, numerous nieces and nephews, and so many loving and loyal friends.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Arden Courts of Westlake for their incredible and compassionate care for our mom. The caretakers, nurses and support staff went above and beyond, taking care of not just mom, but the whole family during this difficult time. We love you all!

Not sure what to say?

There is a tender touch of the Lord for us in times of loss. It's a touch that gently wipe our tears and brings comfort and sorrow. Please know that you and your family are near in heart, and being remembered and prayer. God will tenderly comfort you. He will give you the strength to endure. May God's peace overflow in the days to come. With Deep
Sympathy. Lynne, your loved one was a joy to know and a shining example of Christ s Love. Lynne and l worked together at John W.Raper...

Lynn you will be missed by so many. I was a joy to work with you at Faith Lutheran. I will never forget our fun CPR classes together and all the laughs you brought to the school. Please continue to watch over all your loved ones and make sure you give the Indians a special push this season.

Lynne was a wonderful person. Great friend and Girl Scout Co-leader and mom. She will be missed greatly. Our sympathies to Lynne 's family.

Lynne was a wonderful person whom we will miss greatly.

Recalling those years when our girls were young and we were too. Sewing their clothes and passing them on to the next girl. Managing our households and stretching every penny. We loved trying unusual recipes and still do. Soda cracker peanut butter fudge was a favorite of everyone. Flea markets and sleep overs. Lynne will live on in our memory and the next generations. Gone but not forgotten. Dear to us all.

Sending love and sympathy to my friends Kathy, Maggie, and Lindsay. Your mom was always there for us- backstage at Lakewood Little Theatre/ Beck Center, in the audience for choir concerts at the Civic, and just a dependable positive presence in everyone's lives. I am so sorry for your loss and please know your family is held in the hearts and prayers of many.

Lynne was a wonderful woman and mother-in-law with a generous spirit. Our deepest sympathy and love to Maggie and the family.

What a beautful person and fellow graduate of 1967...she will greatly missed...Babbling Bobby Meyer

My sincere condolences to Lynne's daughters and grandchildren. The obituary said it very nicely. She was one terrific person. She'll be missed by all her friends including myself. I had some wonderful times visiting Lynne over the past few years. We graduated together from Elyria High School. God bless her family.
