Mary Klinker Obituary

Mary Helen Chill Klinker
'Mommie Helen'
Mrs. Klinker, of Charlotte, NC, widow of Col. Louis G. Klinker, passed away November 27, 2004.
Helen was born in New Castle, PA, where she met and married Louis Klinker of Lafayette, IN. As a military wife, she traveled the world with her husband and six children. Helen's greatest gift to her children, extended family and friends was the example of her love of the Roman Catholic faith and her deep respect for all human life. Those who knew her fondly remember Helen as a passionate Notre Dame football fan, a stunning redhead, a gracious hostess, and active in her church and pro-life activities. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Klinker, daughter, Mary Kay Swayze, granddaughter, Cathy Collis, son-in-law, Chris Collis, and brother, James Chill.
Helen is survived by her five children, Susan Collis of Dallas, TX, Diane Hoefling and husband, Rich, of Charlotte, Patrice Hersh and husband, Philip, of Peekskill, NY, Michael Klinker and wife, Mary Paige, of Herndon, VA and Timothy Klinker and wife, Kim, of Richmond, VA; son-in-law, Jack Swayze; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and sisters, Ann Dygert of Ft. Myers, FL, and Esther Veri of New Castle, PA.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 30, from 6:00-8:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service, 10500 Park Road, Pineville, NC with a rosary at 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, on Wednesday, December 1, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, December 13, at 1:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Room at the Inn Maternity Home, PO Box 75384, Charlotte, NC 28275, or to Army Emergency Relief for soldiers and their families, 200 Stovall Street, Room 5-N-13, Alexandria, VA 22332-0600.

Her presence and well being were profound reminders of how precious life truly is. We often sing of the "sweet mystery of life", and, indeed, life is a mystery if we do not read it through the focus of faith. Cardinal Newman, on the matter of life, " Fear not that life shall come to an end, but rather fear that it shall never have a beginning." Mrs. Klinker lived a life full of beginnings. The distant horizon has been made brighter by the example of her life. She breathed love always.

Thank you for allowing us to know this remarkable lady. Our time with her is now even more precious.

Our deepest sympathy,

Tommy and Gail
