PatsyFamily I want you to know my Sunday school lesson is about love this Sunday April 12 and I intend to speak up in honor your Son Matthew Joseph La Porte, He is what it is all about LOVE. Gods Blessings to all

And I will rejoice in Jerusalem and exult in my people; No more will there be heard in her the sound of weeping or a cry of distress.” Isa 65:19. A wonderful promise for Matthew La Porte who is is surely missed prayers go out for all the families and friends.

We will love you always.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. La Porte and Family,

Though it has been five years since that fateful day on April 16, 2007, for one herself who has felt the deepest pain of grief and loss I know it is only yesterday for your family. As our Great Savior expressed it in John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. The students that day were described as teenagers, but your son was truly THIS MAN Jesus spoke of and displayed it so greatly on that...

Roommates for well over 2 years...Words cant describe how much i miss and think of you...your nothing less than an amazing friend and soul...see you soon bro...

My daughter is a new VT freshman cadet and I read your obituary via the cadet home page. I wanted you and your family to know that your life story will continue to impact your fellow cadets both known and unknown. It did for me as the parent of a cadet. I hope your family has been able to find peace and joy once again. God Bless and take care of them.

Hey Matt,

Every now & again I remember you guys from VT. I live in Dumont just as you did & my name is Matt too, so the VT tragedy really resonated with me. I bet you passed my block often as a kid when you were a lifeguard in Cresskill. Why, God? Why? I'm still not over this.

Matt, we didn't know each other well, but I think of you always, particularly this time of year. We Hokies all miss you terribly
