What a GREAT MAN! My Popeye! He is and will forever remain the "apple of my eye"

Max was the best of mankind. He was funny, kind, cheerful, committed, passionate and loyal. His friendship with my father was a joy to witness and I am so very glad I had the opportunity to get to know Max and Betty, too. I will cherish my memories of this wonderful man.

I knew Max, Betty and his family, especially Andy, back in Villa Park Illinois. A wonderful family and I wish them all peace.

My friendship with Max goes back many years. We met when his grandchildren - Andrea, Eddie, Mandy and Steven - were small children. My children, Calder and Nancy Kay grew up with his grandchildren on "our island," Wrightsville Beach. However, Max and "his island" continue be close to our hearts. Max put a golf club in my son's hand for the first time as well as showed wonderful hospitality to all of us during our visits. We had great times together with he and Betty at many various...

Max was a major reason we have enjoyed Hilton Head. He went to lunch with our family after church on Palm Sunday. Our children and grandchildren all said -"What a great guy!"-We agree.
