Meredith VanDerMark Obituary

MONTAGUE - Meredith VanDerMark, 70, of Montague, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, March 9, 2014, after a 14-year courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Newton, Mrs. VanDerMark was raised in Branchville, then lived in Manlius, N.Y., for 10 years before moving to Montague in 1982. She worked in administration at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis.

An avid gardener, Mrs. VanDerMark loved birds and butterflies, golfing and spending time with friends and family. She vacationed in Hilton Head for many years and enjoyed vacationing anywhere with beaches. She was loved by everyone who knew her.

The daughter of the late Martin and Florence (Perry) Struck, Mrs. VanDerMark is survived by her husband, LeRoy "Lee"� VanDerMark; her daughter, Lauren Ayers and husband, Joseph, of Montague; three sons, Kevin Smedley and wife, Kecia, of Spring Branch, Texas, Kurt VanDerMark and wife, Veronica, of Manchester, Vt., and David VanDerMark, of Livermore, Calif.; her sister, Alison McNeary and husband, Brian, of Garrison, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Zachary Ayers, Kate Ayers, Kolter Smedley, Erik VanDerMark and Sydney VanDerMark.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860; or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 44 Middle Ave., 2nd Floor, Summit, NJ 07901.
