Michael Byra, 92, of Marlborough, MA. died Monday, January 24, 2005 at Autumn Village, 25 Oriol Dr., Worcester, MA. Born in Haverhill, Ma., he was the son of the late Anthony and Anelia ( (Klecha) Byra, and the husband of Albina ( Sinicki) Byra, to whom he had been married for the past 65 years.

A graduate of Marlborough High School, he served in the National Guard. He had been employed for many years as a machinist for the former Lombard Governor Company, Ashland, MA. before retiring in 1975. He was a former Little League coach and followed the league’s teams through the years. He enjoyed playing golf, and as a Red Sox fan was surprised to enjoy their World Series Championship twice in his lifetime.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Peter Byra, and his wife Eleanor, of Flemington, N.J. and Thomas Byra and his wife Heidi, of Great Barrington, N.H., his brother, Joseph Byra, and his wife Mary, of Hudson, MA. his sisters, Barbara “Mickey” Grasso, and Celia Chiras, both of Marlborough, his sister in law Anna Polewacyk, of Marlborough, 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St. Marlborough, MA. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough, MA.
