Smiths Station, AL- Rev. Thomas F. Williams, 90 of Smiths Station, Alabama died Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be his grandsons. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
Tommy was born March 3, 1927 in Jacksonville, Florida; son of the late Thomas Jefferson Williams and Daisy Ervin Williams. Tommy proudly served his country as a paratrooper going in to Japan with the occupational forces at the end of WWII, attended Jacksonville College, SE Louisiana College, then went to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the School of Theology at Emory University. He has been a minister for more than 50 years and he constantly strived to keep up with world current events as well as christian news and events. He loved sports of all kinds, but mostly loved to fish and hunt with his sons and grandsons.
Other than his parent and siblings, He was preceded in death by his son, John Robert Williams and his granddaughter, Sarah Ellen Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Sarah "Frances" Williams, children; Dr.Thomas F. Williams, Jr., Kenneth Randall Williams, Cecil David Williams, Connie Williams Hewitt, Timothy Daniel Williams, Annie Rebekah Davis, 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
