William R. Shoda

William R. Shoda, 89, passed away with his children by his side Sunday, October 21, 2012. Born in Fort Wayne, William married Shirley E. Woodring July 20, 1946 after serving in Europe during WWII for the US Army. He was a partner with his brother John from 1946 to 1964 in William Shoda Sons Excavating and started Shoda Sewer Service in late 1963. He was a member of American Legion Post 47, VFW Jim Eby Post 857, Maumee Lodge No. 725, F. & A.M., Mizpah Temple and Moose Lodge 200. Surviving are his daughter, Christine (Larry) Studebaker, son, Craig (Susan) Shoda and Brother Glendon (Mary) Shoda all of Fort Wayne, grandchildren, Mark, Matthew Studebaker and Jennifer Spans, great grandchildren, Madisen, Mitchell, Juliana and Malin. William was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Shirley E. Shoda and parents, William R. and Izetta F. Shoda. Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling 1 hour prior, Chaplain Robin La Rue officiating. Calling also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
