Michael McRoyan Obituary

Mike passed away peacefully at his home in Sarasota, FL, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 11, 1952 in Coral Springs, FL while his dad was in Law School. The family moved to Sarasota, FL in 1954, where Mike lived for the rest of his life. Mike attended Alta Vista Elementary, Sarasota Jr. High, and Sarasota High School. Mike was a swimmer for the YMCA and Sarasota High, and played Little League baseball, Sertoma, second base, #9. Mike went to Clemson University and Emory Dental School where he graduated with honors. Mike practiced dentistry for 35 years before retiring in 2014. He was a BIG Clemson Tiger fan, and loved his Yankee baseball team. Mike loved the water/beach, where he won a few wind-surfing tournaments, enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and the FL. Keys for summer vacations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, K.K. McRoyan(87) and Catherine McRoyan(05), and his brother Dennis McRoyan(19). Mike is survived by his sister, Christine McRoyan-Gruters, his nephews Peter Cary Gruters(Katie), and Christus Michael Gruters(Kayla). Three grand nephews, Madden, Greyson and Peter Kenneth, and one grand niece Anna. Also an Aunt, Evy Larios of Hurley, NY and cousins.
At Mike's request there will not be a service/memorial, but his family will travel down to the Florida Keys to spread his ashes, on his favorite place on Earth. The family would like to thank his friends, neighbors, former clients, his many doctors, and Hospice.

Sincere condolences to Chris and family. It's almost inconceivable that both Mike and Denny are both gone. I still remember being in Sarasota when Chris had gotten married. I had dropped in to see the McRoyans and Judge McRoyan said I had to come to the wedding. I still remember both Mike and Denny in their tuxedos afterward playing pool at The Chicken Coop. God what great memories. I miss them both. Rest in peace folks.

Sincere condolences to Mike's family. So sorry to hear of his passing. He was a good dentist, colleague and friend from our days at Stickney and Swift to 3900 Clark. Rest in peace, my friend.

I grew up next door to Mike and he was also my dentist for many years. He was a kind and sensitive soul. I was saddened to hear of his illness and passing, and would like to express sympathy to his family, especially his sister, who has lost two brothers in the space of two years.
