Mike Edwards

Obituary

LONDON (AP) — Police in southwestern England say a former member of the Electric Light Orchestra was killed in a freak collision with a huge hay bale that rolled down a steep hill.

The victim was identified on Monday as 62-year-old Mike Edwards, who played cello in the British rock band between 1972 and 1975.

Sgt. Steve Walker of the Devon and Cornwall Police said Edwards was driving a van Friday when he collided with a 600-kilogram (1,300 pound) hay bale that had rolled down a hill to the road.

Early ELO - great memories from my teen years. Thank you for the great sounds. God Bless you.

Dear Mike, a great family friend, a wonderful 'cellist, inspiring teacher, modest and most gentle man. You are and will continue to be, truly missed. XXX

This is a sad day to hear the passing of a great man that just tried to bring justice and peace to humanity no matter their station. The work that Rev started must continue to go on. Blessing and comfort to all of us who mourn this passing, especially those that may lose hope and his immediate family. Rev. Mildred J. Solomon (Massachusetts, New Jersey)

Great band, Very sad

Dear Edwards family, I weep with you this day as we say good-bye to a unique and talented man. Though I never met you Mr. Mike I felt I did as your music came through my radio or stereo speakers. Thank-you for the memories. May God grant your family peace and comfort.

ELO is the best! Thanks! My sympathy to the family.
