Mildred Wharton Obituary

Mildred Wharton, 88, was born Mildred Louise Hattendorf on May 31, 1927 in Fort Wayne. Because of the grace of God through her Lord Jesus Christ, she entered her heavenly home on December 31, 2015. She had been a member of several Lutheran churches throughout her life, including Trinity-Fort Wayne, Bethlehem-Fort Wayne, Emmanuel-New Haven, St. Luke- Malvern, AR, and most recently St. Peter's- Fort Wayne. In June of 1948 she married Howard Gordon. After his death in October, 1963, she married former Komet hockey player, Len Wharton, who passed away in September, 2007. She is survived by her son Don (Leslie) Wharton of Fort Wayne; daughter Anna (Kyle) Clay of Keller, TX; and son Tom (Walkiria) Wharton of Belton, TX; along with nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. During her life she was an avid bowler, golfer and bridge player. She enjoyed watching game shows, Hallmark movies, baseball games, and especially Komet hockey games. She had many friends and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2015 at D.O. McComb and Son's Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Fort Wayne, with visitation from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior. Preferred memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Building Fund or Heartland Hospice.
