Not sure what to say?

Miz Yates’ family should know this; she was the best teacher, motivator, and mentor a student could ever hope to have.

She made me believe in myself, and that I could be a success in life, and she did this when no one else would or could. I credit Mildred Campbell Yates with my drive to learn, and the idea that one should never stop learning.

Mrs. Yates was my teacher at Eugene Field 1961-62. She was a remarkable lady and the best teacher I ever had. All other teachers were measured next to her, and they always fell short. Although diminutive in size, she was a dynamite package of energy and enthusiasm that was contagious to her students. I loved having her read to us every day after lunch. That year, she brought Tom Sawyer to life and then created a character named William Green Hill so vividly that after nearly 50 years, I...

I had Mrs Yates as my 9th grade English teacher. We stayed in touch all these years.(class of 75)I told her many times how much she meant to me and how much I loved her. There's just no way to explain how remarkable Mildred Yates was unless you were also blessed to have been one of her students. She looked past all the oddness and awkwardness that seemed to stop others (and ourselves)from seeing our full potential. She saw our hearts, she took our thoughts and pain seriously, and she...

Mrs. Yates was my favorite teacher of all time and I, too, got to enjoy her twice -- once at Eugene Field and again as a freshman at French High. I can still remember her reading "A Wrinkle in Time" to us in the fifth grade. She could really make a book come alive and fostered my love of reading. As a freshman, she was sensitive to the problems we faced as we awkwardly transitioned into adults. What a privilege it was to know her!

Mildred Yates was a gracious lady in the true sense of the word and she was always a credit to her upraising. Our church family was blessed indeed to have her amongst us for so long.

" Very good lady who tried to teach me more than just english.... tried to teach me to live and enjoy life. I have thought about her many times over the years after French High School....will be missed by all who has ever had contact with her....my deepest condolences to her family.

After reading the other entries about Mrs. Yates; I can only add that I loved her. When people ask me who had the greatest influence on me as a student, I always tell them it was Mrs. Yates. My condolences to the family.

What a beautiful LADY. I served on several boards in Beaumont with Mildred. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Condolences to the family.

I was fortunate to enjoy classes with Mrs. Yates twice. The first venture was at Eugene Field and then again at French High. Mrs. Yates had a great deal of patience and seemed to see beyond the rough edges of young people and instill something special. She seemed much more like a friend and counselor while also spending time to teach. I wish to express my condolences to the family during this rough time.
