I am so sorry to hear this news. I met him while I was in Pittsburg, Kansas. I did not know him but when he found out that I was sick, he came for me, took me to his clinic, gave me medicines and and took me back to my residence. A few days later his wife visited me to give me another dose of the same medicine. All this without asking anything in return. I was so sad to learn of Dr. Gometz's passing, and even more so that he suffered with brain cancer. He became my pediatrician long before I left for college and later medical school at KU. He continued to be my primary care doctor into my 20's and was an important and supportive mentor throughout my career. I later brought my infant son to visit him when we were in Pittsburg.
