Morgan Mettling Obituary

Morgan Mettling
07/28/1956 - 03/30/2024
Morgan Mettling passed away peacefully March 30, 2024, at home, surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a long fought battle against Huntington's Disease.
Born July 28, 1956, as a 6th generation San Franciscan, to Joe and Elizabeth Mettling, the 2nd of 3 children. Morgan grew up in the Richmond district of San Francisco, graduated from George Washington HS in 1974, and would call Pacifica, California home for the last 40 years of his life. Professionally, he was a Teamster Local 853, delivering the San Francisco Chronicle all over the Bay Area for just under 30 years.
Everyone who knew Morgan understood his absolute love for fishing. Fisherman was a title he wore proudly, fishing the ocean, the bay, lakes and rivers, with friends, his family and in solitude. Morgan had a connection with the water that was both astonishing and admirable. His love for the outdoors was also expressed in kayaking, bike riding, and long walks along the ocean with his beloved dogs.
Morgan was a friend to so many, a gentle giant, with a towering 6 foot 7 stature, a sweet smile and soft chuckle. He had many lifelong friendships, with endless adventures attached to them. Morgan loved music so deeply, often attending concerts throughout the many venues of the Bay. He was also an avid Bay Area sports fan, especially the San Francisco Giants.
Morgan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbra, his daughters Kelley (Ryan) and Madison (Levi), and his dog Porter. He is also survived by his sisters Jocasta and Cassandra (Steve), nephew Darwin, niece Megan (Ray), and grand nieces Reese and Eden. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial is planned for May 19th at San Pedro Valley Park in Pacifica. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made in Morgan's name to Pacifica Beach Coalition, Rocket Dog Rescue, or the Marine Mammal Center, or an organization of your choice.
